Bruce Springsteen and Illinois Senator Barack Obama have been slagged in a mock negative ad that’s jokingly been attributed to New York Senator Hillary Clinton. The good people at the online video magazine Slate V have posted a video that links Obama’s “religion and guns” comment to Springsteen lyrics like “town full of losers” and “it’s a death trap, it’s a suicide rap” from “Born To Run,” and “they ain’t coming back” (referring to jobs) from “My Hometown.” The clip goes on to say that Obama and Springsteen are “wrong for America, wrong for anyone ‘born in the U.S.A.’” The final part of the gag is that the ad is “approved by Citizens for Hillary Clinton and Celine Dion.”
Clinton and Obama are competing for the presidential nomination from the Democratic Party and the right to go against the presumptive Republican nominee, Arizona Senator John McCain, in this year’s election. The next battleground for Obama and Clinton in in Pennsylvania, which holds its primary today (Tuesday, April 22nd).
