The surviving members of Led Zeppelin discovered very quickly that their upcoming reunion would work out. According to Rolling Stone magazine, guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, and bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones had their first rehearsal back on June 10th, and the results were amazing right away. Page said, “It was immediate,” adding, “Everybody went in with a will to work and to enjoy it. It was a delight.” Plant remembered everyone in the room smiling a lot that day, and he called the jam “cathartic and therapeutic. No pressure, no weight.” Jones, who said he “didn’t have any doubts,” described the process this way: “Someone picked a song. We got through it. And it rocked.”
Zeppelin headlines a tribute concert to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun on December 10th at the O2 Arena in London, where they’ll be joined by drummer Jason Bonham, who is the son of the late Zeppelin drummer John Bonham. Jason Bonham is pulling double duty that night, since he’ll also perform as a member of Foreigner. In addition, the show includes Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, and Paolo Nutini.
